The collections of Information Centre Vellamo focus on seafaring and its history, shipbuilding, the ethnology of the archipelago and inland waterways, archeology, the local history of Kymenlaakso Region, museology and the protection of waters.
The collections of the Information Centre include books, magazines, AV-materials and electronic materials for educational and research purposes.
Some of the materials can be borrowed, while some are only available in the reading room. The collection of materials to be borrewed consist of the materials of Kymenlaakso University of Aplied Sciences Library and the Maritime Museum of Finland, and it is indexed in KYMI database.
The collection of printed materials of the Museum of Kymenlaakso serves as a reference library, so the materials are only available for reading room use. Similarly, the materials and rarities of other reference libraries can only be used in the reading room.
The collection of electronic materials includes databases of several fields of education and science, electronic full text magazines and e-books.
