At Ruuma you can find the reference libraries and archives of the Maritime Museum of Finland and the Kymenlaakso Museum.

 

Welcome to Ruuma!

The central themes of the libraries’ collections are maritime history, archaeology, museology and the history of the Kymenlaakso region and the archipelago. The collections also feature maritime fiction. The books may only be consulted in the library.

The central themes of the archive materials are the merchant fleet, the Finnish Maritime Administration, Kymenlaakso and the outer islands. The collection contains documents, maps, drawings and photographs.

The museums’ photos have been made available with the CC BY licence on the museums’ Flickr pages, from where they can be freely downloaded and used. The museums’ photos made available on Flickr can be copied, forwarded and distributed as well as modified as long as you mention the photographer and the museum.
